Montara Water and Sanitary District (MWSD) along with Sewer Authority Mid-Coastside (SAM) staff have been working to clear a sewer blockage and perform emergency sewer repairs along 3rd Street between East Avenue and La Conte Avenue in Montara. To reduce future impacts to the area, MWSD is proceeding with a full sewer rehabilitation on 3rd Street between East Avenue and La Conte Avenue.

Work Start and Work Hours:

MWSD contractors will start Monday, May 18th and expect to remain onsite for up to three weeks (through early June). Work hours are 8AM to 5PM.

Sewer replacement will utilize trenchless replacement – which limits the need to excavate in the street. Once the new sewer is placed, limited excavation will occur to connect each property’s sewer lateral and the rehabilitated sewer main. No water or sewer service outages are expected during construction.

Traffic Impacts:

• During work hours, please utilize 4th street between Farallone Avenue and La Conte Avenue as an alternative route, and when dropping off and picking up children at Farallone View Elementary School.
• Traffic control staff and detour signage will be located at each end of the work area. All excavated areas will be plated and secured during non-work hours.
• Access to properties along 3rd Street will be maintained, however please allow for extra time to enter or exit during construction hours.
